How to promote your vet clinic on social media

Share

Social media is one of the easiest ways to build trust, stay top-of-mind, and turn clients into loyal advocates - but only if you know what to post (and how to keep it up).

So, where do you start? And how do you keep it consistent without spending hours on it? Let’s break it down.

Be consistent (without overdoing it)

The first step? Be realistic and consistent.

Social platforms favour accounts that post regularly, but that doesn’t mean you need to post daily. Start with one or two posts a week and build from there.

Set up a monthly content calendar and assign one or two team members to help gather, schedule and post content. Choose one or two platforms that make sense for your clinic - Facebook and Instagram are a great place to begin.

Share posts your clients actually care about

Not sure what to post? Here’s a mix of proven, engaging ideas to keep your feed fresh:

- Cute pet photos
Easy, authentic, and always a hit. Share your patients (with permission) or invite submissions through your clinic-branded Vetdesk app. You can even run in-app pet photo contests to build buzz.

- Behind-the-scenes moments
Show the human side of your clinic - birthday cakes, the clinic cat’s latest antics or a team lunch. These simple glimpses build trust and personality.

- Pet care tips and infographics
Educational content is a win-win. It showcases your expertise and helps clients care for their pets between visits. Just keep it short and visual.

- Video to grab attention
Short videos perform exceptionally well on social media. Try things like quick pet care tips, common myths busted, “a day in the life” at your clinic, Q&A reels with your vets, and more. You don’t need fancy equipment - just a steady hand, good lighting and clear audio.

Turn followers into loyal clients

Social media works best when it feels like a conversation. Invite your audience in with content that encourages interaction.

- Host an ask-the-vet session
If you have time, go live on Facebook or Instagram to answer common pet questions. Promote it in advance and share key moments afterwards for those who missed it.

- Share client testimonials
Got a glowing review? Post it (with their permission). Social proof builds trust, and nothing speaks louder than a happy pet parent.

- Spotlight your services
Not every client knows what goes into a dental check or what to expect from a skin consult. Use your posts to give them insight into the value of your care - before they walk through the door.

- Celebrate awareness days
From “Black Cat Appreciation Day” to “Active Dog Month”, there’s always something worth marking.

Post smarter, not harder

Remember, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel each week. You can repurpose content across platforms, reuse evergreen posts (like seasonal tips), keep a running list of client FAQs you can turn into posts, and schedule content in advance.

Over time, you’ll build a library of go-to content that you can tweak and reuse.

Collaborate to grow your reach

Team up with local pet-related businesses - think groomers, dog trainers, pet shops, or pet sitters. You can run joint giveaways, cross-post each other’s content, and even highlight each other’s services. It’s a great way to expand your reach and support your community, without paying for ads.
